2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC
- Ford has effectively distilled the essence of the ultra-exclusive Mustang GTD into the new 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC, creating a track-focused performance car that promises supercar-grade engineering without the GTD’s eye-watering price tag.
- Powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Dark Horse SC inherits race-developed hardware including carbon-ceramic brakes, next-generation MagneRide suspension, and chassis technology refined alongside the Mustang GT3 program.
- Buyers seeking maximum circuit capability can opt for the Track Pack, which adds carbon-fiber wheels, Michelin Cup 2 R tires, enhanced aerodynamics producing up to 620 pounds of rear downforce, and meaningful weight reduction.
- While Ford has yet to reveal official power figures or pricing, the Dark Horse SC is positioned as the most attainable way to experience GTD-inspired performance, bridging the gap between the standard Dark Horse and Ford’s flagship Mustang.
The Mustang Dark Horse SC was developed by engineers who live their lives at racing circuits, and that track-first mentality is woven into every bolt and calibration of this car.
While the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission provide the heart-pounding soundtrack, the real story of the Mustang Dark Horse SC is the relentless pursuit of physics.
By utilizing carbon-fiber wheels, and Brembo carbon-ceramics, 150 pounds of weight was stripped from the Track Package. Standard steel suspension components were replaced with forged links and added a lightweight magnesium strut tower brace to sharpen steering feel and reduce unsprung mass.
The new aluminum hood features a massive vent that improves powertrain cooling and helps manage front-end dynamics. When the hood vent tray is removed, it creates 2.5 times the downforce of the standard Mustang Dark Horse hood vent, while the Mustang Dark Horse SC with Track Pack's carbon-fiber wing helps generate a staggering 620 pounds of rear downforce at 180 mph.
To ensure the driver can actually harness this capability, a Variable Traction Control system with five distinct levels has been integrated, in addition to fully deactivated ESC, to dial in the desired amount of traction assistance.
The result is a vehicle that sits in the top tier of the Mustang stable – between the Mustang Dark Horse Performance Package and the Mustang GTD.
