2022 Maserati Ghibli Fragment Special Edition

Maserati and the pioneer of street culture, Hiroshi Fujiwara, launched the global collaboration “Maserati Meets Fragment” this past June and released a limited-edition capsule clothing collection inspired by the partnership in October. Now, the two special edition Ghibli vehicles, Operanera and Operabianca – the contrasting iterations of the Maserati Ghibli re-imagined by Fujiwara – are officially on the ground in the United States and Canada. A very limited number of these unique vehicles are allocated for North America and are now available through Maserati’s dealership network which you can search here.

The collaboration between Fujiwara – the founder of streetwear brand Fragment – and Maserati, showcases Fujiwara’s modern street-style sensibilities and Maserati’s personalization program, Fuoriserie. Through Fuoriserie, clients can customize their own Maserati tailored to their unique tastes.

The special edition “Maserati Meets Fragment” vehicles come in two exclusive looks – black and white – reflected in the names Operanera and Operabianca. Based on the Ghibli sport sedan in Modena trim, the interiors feature premium leather and Alcantara, with contrasting silver inserts for the vertical stitching and the Trident on the headrests, as well as seat belts in dark blue. The front grille showcases the iconic detail of the partnership: Fujiwara’s metropolitan style is reflected in a specific grille and in the logo, which has been uniquely adapted for this edition. The striking exteriors are fitted with 20” Urano matte black wheels and a specific badge with the Fragment logo on the C pillar.

Additionally, the code M157110519FRG appears underneath the three iconic side air ducts, an alphanumeric tag representing the partnership: the first four characters are the Ghibli ID code, the next six numbers record the date of the first meeting between Fujiwara and the Centro Stile Maserati (November 5, 2019), and the final three letters are the acronym of Fragment.

Known throughout the world as a fashion maverick, Fujiwara is a revered trendsetter who pioneered the streetwear culture of Tokyo in the 1980s. He was one of the first DJs to bring hip hop music to Japan, and, as a producer and musician, he has worked with international recording stars. As a visual artist, Fujiwara specializes in expressing aspects of the mood of the urban experience.

Much like Maserati, he has the ability to break down barriers and be audacious. In the spirit of the concept of “ITANJI” – a Japanese term signifying the coming together of Italian design and Japanese perfection – Operanera and Operabianca have been born.
